WHY GO SOLAR?
Worldwide, electricity from solar is more efficient and cheaper than energy from fossil fuels, and there is hardly a better place on the planet to go solar than here in beautiful Southern California where mild weather and long sunny days bring out the best in any solar system. Going solar is great for your bottom line, great for the value of your home, great for the environment, and homes just look cooler sporting solar panels. The following are just a few reasons to go solar:
SOLAR IRRADIANCE – LOOK WHERE WE LIVE!
I LOVE this map by NREL that clearly shows the average annual level of irradiance across the USA. If solar is a solid investment in NY, its clearly an excellent investment in California.
Irradiance is basically described as the amount of energy that falls onto a given surface area. You’ll see it quoted as Watts per square meter W/m² (Click the image for a closer look).
MONEY
If you pencil it out, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better return on investment than solar. Over time, the return on a purchased solar system is about 20% or better! Solar is money well invested.
Without spending a dime upfront, solar is a terrific investment. On day one, you save money on your electric bill. An installed system adds value to your home the moment it’s turned on, and in a Power Purchase Agreement PPA, the amount you pay per kWh for solar power will be less than what you currently pay per kWh. Over time, as utility prices rise, your savings will only increase.
ENVIRONMENT
Just my opinion; You will find yourself on the right side of history. The movement to solar is clearly powered by economics, but even more important, its a movement toward a future powered by clean and sustainable energy. Each home that goes solar exponentially increases the momentum of this movement, and over time, burning fossil fuels to power our homes will become a thing of the past. We live in exciting and transformative times!
